บทนำ Introduction
Asking someone their age is considered acceptable in Thailand to determine the status and to know how to address one another. In most of the English speaking parts of the world, it is considered rude to ask someone what their age is. However, there are exceptions to this where it is considered fine to ask their age, several examples are given below:
- Talking with a child or teenager.
- Talking with a family member or friend.
- When it is someone’s birthday.
It’s probably best to avoid asking women their age (even on their birthday!) and someone you don’t know too well.

There are few ways to ask someone their age as shown below:
When asking about someone's age to another person you would say:

What usually happens when you ask someone their age is that they reply with a question, How old do I look? This is where you reply with a lower than expected age for the person in order to be polite
You look about 24 years old. Thereafter, the conversation finally comes to an end with the person telling you their age.
